Kids Church, on Crutches!!!!

Sunday March 25, 2012
I didn't update the blog last week and I am very sorry. I kept meaning to do it, and then somehow it was Sunday, boo!
Last week's memory verse was found in Psalms....121:2
My help comes from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth.
So now onto next week. We are rapidly trying to get through Moses so we can do the Passover next week. We usually emphasize the burning bush when we teach about Moses, so we decided to see if the kids could recall the plagues and put them in order. The boys had three in order and the girls had one, so we hopefully helped them put all 10 to memory in case they ever need to know them in a trivia game, lol. We are so blessed to have Bro Damien in Kids Church, so next time you see him let him know you appreciate him so much!!!!!!! He did an excellent job telling the kids about the burning bush. Also shout out to Emily Criss for bringing her friend Vicki!!!!! We enjoy her and you so much.
Next week's Memory Verse:
Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground Exodus 3:5
(we always give NIV reference, but if you prefer KJV that works for us too!)
Can you put the plagues in order??????? Have your kid quiz you. If you get them right and your child vouches for you I will give you a candy bar :).

Sunday March 4 2012

I have no idea what happened in Sunday School; and I am great with that. I have spent the last week in Maui HI, RELAXING!!!

I stayed on the Lahaina end of the island, but went everywhere (but Hana, next time for sure). My favorite day was Monday. Joe and I went to the top of the Volcano, over 10,000 feet to watch the sunrise. We did get up at 4 am for this adventure, but wow so worth it. Hundreds of people gathered together to watch the sun come up at 6:42 am. When packing for Maui, one doesn't bring a jacket, gloves, or a scarf...I was freezing!!! When the sun made it's appearance it was AMAZING. The road to the top is so scary, it's dark, very windey, and it takes over an hour. The ride down is just as awful...don't ride the brakes, oh and look out for all the crazy people who spent over $100 to ride a shuttle up at 3am and ride a mountain bike down. Joe really wanted to do that; 28 miles in the cold to the bottom. I am so glad I was able to use Dave Ramsey to talk him out of it; "Honey think of our budget."

I am so thankful the "Son" we seek is everywhere, and not a dangerous adventure for a one time experience. Urge your little ones to love the simple, sweet presence of Jesus in their lives. Anytime we want Him, anytime we need Him; we don't have to travel far on a windey road, thank God!!!

Memory Verse:

The Lord was with Him; He showed him kindness and granted him favor. Genesis 39:21

Him being Joseph, still learning about that guy.

Memory Verse

Trust in the Lord with all Your Heart Proverbs 3:5

(a very easy one for all this time).

It is so funny how you change with age. I remember this verse from a teen class I was in. (It was the longer version and from the Old King James though). The desires of my heart at that time are so humorous to me now. I believe I desperately wanted long hair and a boyfriend, lol!!! Those two things were all a girl needed and she was set. Life was so full of drama drama drama; even in a small town. We are focusing on Joseph with your kids and will continue for a few weeks. Our main theme last week was trusting God and being obedient to Him and He will keep His hand on our lives. Joseph faced so much turmoil but with honesty and honor. To be forgiving and strong like Joseph, how can we even begin to teach this lesson to it's full capability.
Joe and I will be gone this next Sunday so the Schmucks, Bates, and Monique are in charge. Damien will be the man if any of you need something. Thanks again for your awesome kids!!! See you all next Wednesday night.

How Sunday School Happens!

Grocery Bag Coat of Many Colors

Febuary 19, 2012

Memory verse to know for next week:

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers 1 Timothy 4:12

We had a very fun time today...I personally picked your kids brains and got them to tell me all kinds of stuff...lol (just kidding).

We discussed the family dynamic as it pertains to Joseph, continuing on with the story of Jacob and his descendants. Joseph was absolutely his fathers favorite, so I asked the kids who was their mom and dads favorite. It was so cute to see from ages 5-11 how logic of this question doesn't change much. Then we talked about how they are God's favorite child. There is no one else like us, we are truly a one of a kind creation. I am so thankful there is only one Amy Skreczko, but I love the fact that he placed so many things in me that are mine alone. I share things with Him that no one else does. My walk with Him is just that...MINE. I love our savior and want to put on His "coat of many colors" so to speak. He dresses us apart from everyone else and we shine in many ways that are beautiful and special. Love on your precious babies, we are truly blessed to be parents and friends to these kids. We enjoyed a lot of laughs today, thank you so much for bringing your kids to our program. (We will continue to bribe them with candy, or whatever it takes).

Someone update this blog....ok fine I will do it already!

2 weeks ago we learned about the Tower of Babel.

I think the kids enjoyed it, and I know we got the point across. (maybe we beat a dead horse).

We made towers out of graham crackers and marshmallow puff (shout out Criss family)

We played Jenga, or built a super tall tower

We colored

We learned about being fruitful to Jesus and not other things

We built a tower with the memory verse on it

And finally we read the story out of the Bible, and watched a video called the Bible Encyclopedia that showed the story cartoon style.

Yes, I should say the kids know the Tower of Babel.

The Memory Verse they should show up knowing is in one of the pictures...because ya, we took pictures too.

Sunday September 25 2011

Wow I have slacked big time!!!! I have enjoyed pretending I don't have a blog.

Memory Verse

Psalm 139:13-13

For You created my inmost being;

You knit me together in my mother's womb.

I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.

Lesson

Today we learned where we come from. God breathed His breath into us, with just a word He spoke us into existence. He dedicated Genesis 2 to let us know how He created man. He doesn't take any time to tell you how He made the animals, or the plants, or all the elements of the earth; but He wanted you to know just how special you are by giving you the details of the creation of man. He truly loves us so much, He made us all so unique!!!!! You are so rare, you should consider yourself an endagered species...only one of you exists. He knows how many hairs you have on your head....He created you inmost being! All of your desires and likes and the things your good at, He put there. I am gonna walk even taller than six feet today knowing this truth.

Prayer

When He made man he placed them in a garden with a tree, a forbidden tree. He did that to give us free will or choice. When God created man he made them in His image, because He has free will/choice then we do as well. The tree was a daily choice for Adam and Eve. I long for an easy choice like stay away from that tree and all is good Amy, but we have temptations everywhere we go. Our prayers need to be about the right choice. Lord I choose you, I need you daily; lead me, guide me...keep me strong, and hungry for you each and everyday. Our kids face a world I do not understand or even like most days. Pray that they make the right choice.
